Denali is a very high mountain in central Alaska, inside Denali National Park. It is the highest point in North America. For many years English maps and news called it Mount McKinley, after a US president, and that older name is still in some books. The United States later went back to the name the local people had used. People say Denali for the mountain and also for the huge park around it, so you have to hear which one they mean. It is a proper name: we do not say “a denali.”
