Demobilization is the sending home of soldiers, sailors, and air-force people, especially when a war is over and the country does not need such a big army any more. Uniforms come off, and people return to ordinary jobs. It is a formal word, used in history books and government talk. After a huge war, demobilization can take months and involve huge numbers of people. Do not mix it with : that one is about a PLACE losing its weapons; this one is about PEOPLE going home. A country can send its extra soldiers home and still keep weapons in a zone — or keep the soldiers and take the weapons out of one area.
