A debunker is a person who does the work of showing that an idea or a belief is false. Some are scientists or journalists who test a claim and then say, in public, that it does not hold. Some are just loud voices online who enjoy knocking things down. The word can sound respectful — a careful myth-buster — or a little cool, as if the person likes the fight more than the truth. It names the person, not the act. The act is to debunk.
