dB is the short written form of (or ), the unit people use for how strong a sound is — and, in technical work, for some other kinds of signal too. You see it on headphones, concert notices, factory rules, and phone settings. A bigger number means a stronger sound, but the scale is not a simple straight line: going up a little in dB can be a much bigger jump in the real sound than the numbers make you feel. Though actually, engineers also use dB for things that are not sound, like radio signals; in school and daily life it almost always means loudness. You write dB with a small d and a capital B. Aloud, people say , or sometimes dee-bee.
組成Short for decibel. deci- means one tenth; a bel is the larger unit (named after Alexander Graham Bell). Almost nobody uses bel in ordinary talk, so dB is the form you actually meet.
