This is an old-fashioned word for a piece of furniture, and , it means two different things depending on where you are. In American English, a davenport is usually a big sofa (couch), sometimes one that can fold out into a bed. In British English, a davenport usually means a small writing desk. You won't hear this word very often in modern conversation - it sounds a bit old or formal now.
