The Dáil is the lower house of parliament in the Republic of Ireland — the main elected house, where TDs sit and make laws. The full Irish name is Dáil Éireann. The upper house is the Seanad (Seanad Éireann), often called the Senate in English. News reports say “the Dáil” the way British papers say “the Commons.” It is a proper name. Irish spelling keeps the accent, Dáil; English sometimes drops it and Dail. Though actually, it does not sound like English dale or daily. Irish speakers say it more like “doyl” (close to the name Doyle).
愛爾蘭眾議院(Dáil Éireann,愛爾蘭國會下議院)
組成Borrowed from Irish Dáil, short for Dáil Éireann. In Irish, dáil means an assembly or meeting; Éireann means “of Ireland.”
