A dahlia is a garden flower with a large, round, often very bright head — red, pink, orange, purple, yellow, white. Some look like pompoms, some like little waterlilies. They bloom in late summer and autumn, not with the first of spring. like them because the colour is bold and the heads can be huge. The name is also used as a girl's name, taken from the flower. Ordinary garden English. It is not the Indian dish dahl; that is a different word with a different story.

組成Named in 1791 after Anders Dahl, a Swedish botanist, by the Spanish botanist Antonio José Cavanilles. So dahlia is “Dahl’s flower,” not a word that splits into English pieces.
