In the garden, some salad plants — lettuce, , rocket, that kind of thing — you do not pull the whole plant out of the earth when you want leaves to eat. You snip or pick the outer leaves and leave the heart of the plant in the ground. It keeps living, and later it has grown more leaves for you. call that kind of plant cut-and-come-again. The name is almost a tiny instruction: you cut, and it comes again. You meet it on seed packets and in gardening talk, not in ordinary chat about dinner. Though actually, people also stretch it a little and say a cut-and-come-again crop, or a cut-and-come-again method — still the same idea: harvest without killing the plant. It is not the name of one vegetable. It tells you how you pick it.
「cut-and-come-again」形容一種沙拉菜，採收時只摘外側的葉子，讓植株中心留在土裡，它會繼續活著，過一陣子又長出新葉，可以再採。這個字多半出現在種子包裝和園藝的說明裡，日常聊晚餐時很少用到。
