    Curtness is the noun: the quality of using very few words in a way that seems rude. You might notice the curtness of a reply, or fall into curtness when you are tired and do not want to talk. It names the manner, not one particular sentence. Same family as curt and , and a slightly formal word. In everyday talk people more often say someone was short with them.
