Curaçao is a sweet, rather strong that tastes of orange peel — often bitter orange. Barmen pour it into cocktails. The famous bottle is bright blue (Blue Curaçao), though actually the drink is not born blue; the colour is added, and there are clear and orange kinds too. It is named after the Caribbean island of Curaçao. You meet it on cocktail menus more than in ordinary home talk; it feels a little fancy. It is a drink, not a medicine, even if the spelling makes some people think of “cure.”
