A cub is a baby of certain wild animals, especially ones like bears, lions, tigers, foxes, or wolves. It's also used for young members of the Cub Scouts, a youth group for younger children before they join Scouts. Occasionally, "cub" describes a young, person just starting a job, like a "cub reporter" - a new journalist still learning the ropes.
