A crossover happens when something moves from one kind or group into another. In music, a "crossover" song mixes two styles, like classical and pop, or it's a song that becomes popular with a different audience than it was made for. In TV and movies, a "crossover" episode puts characters from two different shows together in one story. In sports and everyday life, a "crossover" can also mean a moment of moving between two areas or — like a "career crossover" from one job into a very different one. A "crossover SUV" is also a common car type, built between a car and an SUV.
