If a telephone line is crossed, the call is joined by mistake to one or more other phones, so you can hear someone else’s talk — and they might hear yours. People used to say “we’ve got a crossed line.” It belongs to older phone systems, when real wires could get mixed at the exchange. With mobile phones it is rare, but older speakers still know the phrase, and you will see it in stories. It is not about feeling angry, and it is not about drawing an X on a page.
「a crossed line」指電話線串線：通話錯誤地接到別的電話上，你聽得到別人的談話，對方也可能聽到你的。這是舊式電話系統才有的情況，那時候真正的電線會在交換機那裡交錯。
現在用手機很少遇到，但年紀大的人還知道這個說法，例如「we've got a crossed line」。它跟生氣無關，也不是在紙上畫叉劃掉，而是兩條電話線交錯在一起。
