Courseware is computer software made to teach a subject — lessons, quizzes, and practice that run on a screen, the way a course would. Schools, universities, and companies use the word in official talk. You almost never hear it in the street. Younger people are more likely to say an app, an online course, or e-learning. Though actually people also stretch it to mean any files a teacher puts online, even a folder of PDFs. Strictly, courseware is the teaching program itself, the thing that runs and teaches, not every document in the folder. The word is built like software: the ware is the product.
