Corsica is a large island in the Mediterranean Sea, south of France. It belongs to France, so it is not its own country — though actually some of the people there have long wanted more of their own government, and a few want to be fully separate. The famous French leader Napoleon was born there, not in Paris. The island has mountains, a strong local identity, and its own language () beside French. In English the stress sits on the first part: KOR-si-ka.
組成Borrowed from Latin Corsica — that was already the island's name in Roman times.
