Corroboration is the noun: the act of backing something up, or the extra information itself that supports someone else’s statement, idea, or result. In court or in the news, people look for corroboration before they treat a claim as solid — a second source, a record, a test that matches. It is a formal, slightly heavy word. In everyday talk you would say proof, backing, or extra evidence. One piece of corroboration is rarely the whole proof on its own; it is support that makes the first claim stronger. You give corroboration, find corroboration, or need corroboration; you do not “corroboration” something — that job belongs to the verb corroborate.
