A contactless debit card or credit card lets you pay by holding it over a machine. You do not push the card in, and for a small amount you often need no pin number. In Britain people even say 'I'll pay by contactless,' using it almost like a name for that way of paying. The same idea covers contactless tickets, keys, and that read heat from a little way off. Though actually, 'no contact' is only about the hand or the card not touching. It has nothing to do with 'contacts' meaning friends. Shops loved the word in the years people were afraid to share surfaces, because it sounded clean. Older speakers may still say 'tap and go'; the card itself will say contactless.
組成From contact + -less. Contact is the touching; -less (from Old English -lēas, through Middle English -les) means 'without.' So: without touching. Same build for the adjective and the noun use.
