A constructor is a person or a company that builds things. You may meet it for a building firm, especially in British English, and in motor racing the constructors are the companies that build the cars — hence the Constructors’ Championship. It is more formal and more technical than builder. In a lot of everyday situations, people simply say builder, construction company, or manufacturer. Though actually, in computer programming constructor means something else: a special piece of code that sets up a new object. That is a later, specialist meaning. The sense here is the human or the company that builds.
