A conservatoire is a school where people train seriously in music, and sometimes in acting or dance. It is not an ordinary school with many subjects; students go there to become players, singers, or actors. The word is borrowed from French, and British English still likes the French shape. In American English people more often say conservatory for this kind of school. That is messy, because in British English a conservatory is usually a glass room stuck on a house, full of plants — not a music school at all. If you mean the famous European music schools, conservatoire is the word that points at that tradition.
