    Something consequent happens as a result of a particular event or situation. The factory closes, and the consequent loss of jobs hurts the town; the storm comes, and the consequent flooding stops the trains. It is a formal, written adjective — news, essays, reports. In ordinary talk people say resulting, the extra, or just use so / because of that. You will hear the noun consequences far more than this adjective. There is also a specialist use in logic (the “then” part of an if–then), but the sense you need first is this everyday-formal one: following as a result. It does not mean “important” or “big,” even if a similar-looking word in another language does.

組成Borrowed from French, from Latin consequens, from con- (with / together) + sequi (to follow). Something consequent is what follows from an event.
