A conglomeration is a group of different things gathered into one mass — not a neat set, but a mix. A desk can be a conglomeration of cables, cups, and tickets; a festival can be a conglomeration of food, music, and stalls from many towns. The word pictures things rolled together, like bits stuck into one ball. It can sound a little heavy or , depending on the speaker: sometimes it just means “a big mixed pile.” In business news you will also hear conglomerate for a huge company made of many smaller ones; conglomeration is more often the gathering itself, the mixed heap, though people do stretch it toward companies too.
