Conditional describes something that only happens, or is only true, if something else happens first — it depends on a condition. A conditional offer of a job means you get it only if you pass a background check, for example. In grammar class, you'll also meet 'conditional sentences' — the 'if...then' sentences (if it rains, we'll stay inside).
