A concatenation is a series of things or events joined one after another, like links in a chain — a concatenation of accidents, a concatenation of small choices. The pieces stay in order; each one is hooked to the next. It is a formal, word. In everyday English people say a chain of, a string of, or one thing after another. Though actually, students who meet it in computer class hear a narrower use: there, concatenation means joining pieces of text (or data) end to end, so that “hello” joined with “world” becomes “helloworld.” That technical sense is the same picture — linking — just applied to strings. The word does not mean a mix or a mess, and it does not mean things happening at the same time. It means one after another, joined.

組成Borrowed from Latin concatēnātiō. By surface split, concatenate + -ion. Latin catēna means “chain”; the verb was “to link together like a chain.”
