Communion has a religious meaning and a more general one. In Christianity, Communion (often capitalized) is a ceremony where people eat a small piece of bread and drink a little wine or juice, remembering Jesus - also called the Eucharist in some churches. More generally, 'communion' means a feeling of closeness and shared understanding between people, or even between a person and nature - 'she felt a deep communion with the forest around her' means she felt deeply connected to it, almost spiritually.
