A commodious house or room is very big, with plenty of space, so you can move around in it comfortably. The word is a little old-fashioned and a little formal; estate agents and older writers like it. Everyday people usually say spacious or . Though actually, the older meaning was closer to convenient or useful, and the “big” sense grew out of that: a room that suits you well often does so because there is enough space. You almost never use it for people, clothes, or ideas — only for places, and mostly for rooms and houses.
