    A comer is anyone who wants to join in — above all a race, a match, or some other contest. You almost always meet it in the phrase all comers: a race open to all comers will take whoever shows up and wants to try, not only club members or famous names. It belongs more to sports writing and notices than to everyday chat; with friends people just say “anyone can enter.” Though actually, American English also uses a comer for a person on the way up, a talent worth watching. That is a looser, later stretch of the same pieces. This meaning is the older, plainer one: a person who comes to take part.

組成From Middle English comere: come + -er (a person who does that). Here, a person who comes (to take part).
