A comedown is the feeling or the fact that life is smaller, duller, or less important than it was. After a big job, a small job can be a comedown. After a loud party, Monday morning can be a comedown. The word carries a little sadness, or a dry joke at your own expense. Though actually, people also use comedown for the low, flat feeling when a drug, a drink, or a rush of excitement wears off — the body coming down. That use is informal. The shared picture is the same: you were up, and now you are not. It is a noun. The verb phrase come down (the plane came down; prices came down) shares the pieces, but everyday come down often just means go lower or become less, without this taste of lost status or lost high.
