A class-action is a kind of lawsuit: one case brought by a group of people, for themselves and for others who have the same problem. If a company sells a product that hurts many customers, those customers may not each go to court alone; they may join, or be spoken for, in one class-action. The “class” here is not a school class. It is a legal class: a set of people in the same boat. The “action” is a legal action — a case in court. You will often hear the full phrase class-action lawsuit. It is a formal, legal word, used in the news when many people sue together. In the United States this kind of case is especially well known; other countries have similar tools, sometimes under different names.
集體訴訟是一群人一起提出的一件訴訟，替自己也替其他有同樣問題的人打。如果一家公司賣的產品傷害了很多消費者，這些人不必各自單獨上法院，而是可以合在一起，用同一件集體訴訟來處理。前半的詞指法律上處境相同的一群人，不是學校的班級；後半的詞則是一件法律訴訟。這是正式的法律用語，新聞報導一群人一起告的時候很常見，常用的完整說法是「class-action lawsuit」。美國特別常見，其他國家也有類似的制度，只是名稱可能不一樣。
