A clarinettist is a person who plays the clarinet — not the long black tube itself. (The instrument is the clarinet; the player is the clarinettist.) You will see this spelling with two t's in British English; American English often clarinetist with one t. It is a neutral, slightly formal word: concert programmes and music teachers use it. A jazz player might just say “I play clarinet.”
