A cityscape is the way a city looks — the buildings, streets, lights, and sky together — or that same view from one place, as if you were standing on a hill or at a window. People use it for the real view in front of you and also for a photo or a painting of it. It is the city cousin of landscape (the look of the land). Though actually it is wider than skyline: a skyline is mainly the outline of buildings against the sky; a cityscape can include the river, the night lights, the old streets, the whole picture. Writers and artists like the word; everyday talk might just say the view of the city.
