A chorister is a singer in a church choir. That is the old and still usual meaning. You meet the word in churches, especially in Britain, and in talk about cathedrals and church music. Many choristers are children: famous church choirs long trained boys, and quite a few now train girls too. Adults can be choristers as well. The word feels a little formal and a little old. In everyday talk people often just say choir singer or choir member. Though actually, it is not a pop singer, and it is not just anyone who sings on Sunday. If the group is a school choir or a community choir, English speakers almost never say chorister.
