Chlorophyll is the green substance inside leaves and other green parts of a plant. It catches light from the sun so the plant can make its own food from air and water. That is why most leaves look green: you are seeing the chlorophyll. In autumn, many trees stop making it, and then the yellow and red colours that were hiding underneath can show. People also put the word on bottles of bright-green health drinks; though actually, drinking 'chlorophyll water' is a shop word as much as a science word, and it is not the same as a leaf doing its real work. You will meet it in school biology more than in daily chat.
