1. 1

Chinatown is a part of a city where many Chinese people live and work, and where you find Chinese shops, restaurants, and signs in Chinese. Many big cities have one. In English it is usually written with a capital C, like a place name. For people who grew up there it can be home. For visitors it is often just a street of restaurants, which is a thinner picture than real life. Though actually, not every street with Chinese shops is called Chinatown, and not everyone who works there lives there. The word is simply China plus town.
