If someone is childlike, they have the good sides of being a child: they still wonder, they trust, they get , they look at things with open eyes. Adults can be childlike. We usually say it with a warm feeling, as a kind of praise. It is about innocence and , not about being small, and not about behaving badly. Though actually, you must not mix this with childish. Childish is what you say when an adult is being silly, selfish, or unable to hold their feelings — it is a complaint. Same starting word, very different mood.
