A chickadee is a small bird from North America. It has a black cap on its head, white cheeks, and a grey body. It is tiny and busy, and it often comes to garden feeders. The name is the sound it makes: a clear “chick-a-dee-dee-dee.” When the bird is worried, it often adds extra “dee” sounds. You will not see wild chickadees in Taiwan; they live in Canada and the United States. The word is only the bird’s name. People do not use it for a person or for a baby chicken.
