Channelling is a practice some people believe in: a spirit — often a dead person — is said to enter a living body and talk through that person’s mouth. The living person is treated as a path, a “channel,” that the spirit can pass along.

Channelling通靈 is是 some people believe in某些人相信的 a practice一種作法:is said to據說 a spirit一個靈魂(often a dead person通常是死者)enter進入 a living body活人的身體,and talk through that person's mouth並透過那個人的嘴巴說話。The living person這個活人 is treated as被當作 a path, a "channel,"一條通道,也就是「channel」 that the spirit can pass along讓靈魂可以通過。

You will hear this in New Age circles, in stories about mediums, and sometimes at a gathering where the speaker’s voice or manner suddenly changes and the room is told, “This is not me talking.” It is a belief word, not a science word; some listeners find it a comfort, others think it is a kind of theatre.

在新時代圈子裡in New Age circles、講靈媒的故事裡in stories about mediums,有時候在聚會上and sometimes at a gathering,講者的聲音或神態忽然改變where the speaker's voice or manner suddenly changes,然後在場的人被告知and the room is told「這不是我在說話」"This is not me talking.",你會聽到這樣的說法You will hear this。It is這是 a belief word一個信仰用詞, not a science word不是科學用詞;some listeners有些聽眾 find it a comfort覺得這樣很安慰,others有些人 think it is a kind of theatre則覺得這只是一種表演。

Though actually, people stretch it. Many who “channel” today say the voice is not only the dead, but an angel, a teacher, or some other being — same idea of a borrowed voice, wider cast of speakers.

Though actually不過實際上,people stretch it大家把這個詞用得更寬。Many who "channel" today現在很多說自己在「channel」的人 say會說 the voice is not only the dead那個聲音不只是死者,but an angel, a teacher, or some other being也可能是天使、老師,或其他某種存在——same idea of a borrowed voice一樣是借來的聲音這個概念,wider cast of speakers只是講者的範圍變廣了。

British spelling usually keeps two l’s (channelling); American spelling often has one (channeling).

British spelling英式拼法 usually keeps two l's通常保留兩個 l(channelling);American spelling美式拼法 often has one常常只有一個(channeling)。

And the very same letters are also just the ordinary verb channel with -ing: channelling money into a school has nothing to do with spirits. You only know which meaning you have from the rest of the sentence. This entry is the spirit one.

And而且 the very same letters同樣這幾個字母 are also just也可能只是 the ordinary verb channel with -ing普通動詞 channel 加上 -ing:channelling money into a school把錢導入一所學校 has nothing to do with spirits跟靈魂一點關係都沒有。You only know你只能 from the rest of the sentence從句子其他部分 which meaning you have才知道是哪個意思。This entry這個詞條 is the spirit one講的是靈魂這個意思。
