Picture a long row of dominoes standing on a desk. You touch only the first one. After that nobody touches anything again, and the row keeps going down, because each piece is knocked over by the one just before it. That is the picture inside chain reaction: not many things happening at the same time, but one thing handing its push to the next, over and over, so a single small start takes the whole line with it.
