A chador is a large piece of cloth, most often black, that some Muslim women wear so it covers the head and the whole body. The face is usually left open. You see it especially in Iran, where it is a common outdoor garment; it is not the everyday word for every Muslim head covering. A hijab is typically a scarf around the hair. A niqab covers the face except the eyes. A burqa covers even the eyes with a screen. A chador is more like a full cloak held closed at the front, not always sewn up like a coat. In English it is a fairly formal, factual word — you meet it in news and school books more than in chat.
