A celeb is a celebrity: someone famous enough that strangers know their name, usually from film, music, sport, or the internet. It is informal. Magazines, gossip, and everyday chat use it; a news report or a school essay would say celebrity instead. It covers more than film stars — reality-TV people and online famous people get called celebs too, sometimes with a slight , as if the fame is a bit thin. It is only a celebrity, not a different kind of person.
