A cattery is a place you pay so that someone looks after your cat while you are away — like a small hotel, but for cats. You drop the cat off, they feed it, keep it clean and safe, and you collect it when you come home. The word is especially British; in American English people more often say a cat hotel or a boarding kennel for cats. Though actually, you will also see breeding cattery, and that is not a holiday for pets: it is a place that raises cats to sell. The first meaning to learn is the boarding one.
