Caravanning is the British name for taking a holiday in a caravan — meaning a small home on wheels that you tow behind a car, not a line of camels in the desert. Families drive to a campsite, park the caravan, and live in it for days or weeks: beds, a tiny kitchen, a table that folds. It is a holiday hobby, a bit old-fashioned and very British; people who love it talk about sites, hook-ups, and the open road. In American English you are more likely to hear camping or RVing. Though actually, the word caravan in this sense is the trailer, so caravanning is the activity built from that. It has nothing to do with Silk Road travel except that English reused an older word.
