    Capri is an island in the sea near Naples, in southern Italy. It is famous with tourists for steep cliffs, bright water, and old holiday villas — a small place people go to look at, not a big working city. English took the name from Italian as it is. You will see it in travel writing, , and film. Though actually, you may also meet Capri on clothes (Capri pants are cropped trousers named after holiday wear on the island) or as a colour name for blue-green sea water; those grew out of the island's fame.
