Capitalization has two common meanings. In writing, it means using capital (big) letters, like starting a sentence or a name with an uppercase letter: "Correct capitalization matters — write ',' not '.'" In business and finance, "capitalization" (often called "market cap") means the total value of a company, usually the share price multiplied by the number of shares: "a company with a market capitalization of one billion dollars."
