A canopy is a covering that hangs or stretches above something, like a cloth top over a bed, a cover held above someone important, or the clear cover over a fighter jet's cockpit. In a forest, 'the canopy' is the layer formed high up by the leaves and branches of tall trees, like a roof over the forest floor.

組成Its story probably goes back to a Greek word for a couch with a net over it to keep out mosquitoes - the net took its name from the Greek word for 'gnat/mosquito'. It's a likely origin, not a fully certain one.
