A candelabra is a decorative stand that holds several candles at once — or, these days, several lamps made to look like candles. It usually has arms that branch out, so the lights sit at different points, often on a table. Though actually, English is messy with the grammar here. The old Latin singular is candelabrum, and candelabra was the plural. Many English speakers now say “a candelabra” for one object, and “candelabras” for more than one. In careful writing you may still see candelabrum. The word feels a little grand. An ordinary holder for one candle is just a candlestick.
