A burette is a long, thin glass tube with numbers up the side, used in a science lab. It stands upright and has a little tap at the bottom. You fill it with a liquid, then open the tap and let the liquid out slowly — even one drop at a time — and you read the marks to see exactly how much came out. Chemistry classes use it when one liquid is added to another until a colour changes: the burette is how you know the amount. A pipette looks a little like it, but you draw liquid up and carry it; a measuring cylinder is a wider jar you pour into. The burette is the tall one that dispenses. You will almost only meet this word in a lab or a science book; it is not an everyday object at home.
