Bulimia is an illness of eating and weight. A person with bulimia has times when they cannot stop eating a very large amount of food (people call this bingeing), and then they try to undo it — often by making themselves vomit, sometimes with medicine that the bowels, or by exercising far too much — because they are afraid of gaining weight. Though actually, many people with bulimia are not very thin; they may look an ordinary size, which is one reason the illness can stay hidden. It is not the same as anorexia, where a person eats far too little. It is a serious medical condition, not a bad habit and not greed. Doctors often say bulimia nervosa for the full name. Speak about it with care.
組成Borrowed from Ancient Greek boulīmĭ́ā, “ravenous hunger”: boúlīmos (from bous, ox, + līmós, hunger) + an ending that names a state. The old picture was a hunger as fierce as an ox’s.
