A bugle is a brass horn that looks like a simple trumpet. Armies use it to call soldiers: wake up, come here, go to sleep. A real army bugle has no extra buttons to change the notes. The player's lips do that work, so only some notes come out, and the calls are short tunes made of those notes. You still hear it at camps and ceremonies. Though actually, English also uses bugle for a small wild flower and for tiny tube beads. Those are different words with the same spelling. This one is the army horn.

組成From Latin būculus, a young ox, through Anglo-Norman and Middle English bugle. The first bugles were animal horns, so the name is the young-ox word.
