    In Britain, the part of the Guides that younger girls belong to, before they move up to the older groups.

    In the United States, the part of the Girl Scouts that younger girls belong to, before they move up to the older groups.

    the Brownies 是美國女童軍（Girl Scouts）裡年紀比較小的那一階。小女生先進 Brownies，長大再往上一階。因為是團體的名字，所以字首大寫，前面通常加 the，而且當複數用。要講其中一個成員時說 a Brownie。要特別小心：小寫的 brownies 是巧克力蛋糕，那是另一個字，只是拼起來一樣。

    The Brownies is the name of a group inside a larger organisation, so the word is normally plural and takes the. Girls join the Brownies, are in the Brownies, and later move up. One girl in the group is a Brownie. It is written with a capital B because it is a name, not a description of the girls.
