A bronco is a wild horse from the western United States, or a horse that has not been trained to take a rider and still bucks. English borrowed it in the 1800s from Spanish bronco, rough; in Mexican usage it already described a horse that had not been broken and was still wild. In rodeos the bronco — or , the short cowboy form — is the horse that tries to throw you. People also stretch it: a bucking bronco can describe a person or a machine that is hard to control. It is informal, Western, a little colourful. Though actually, it is not a breed, like an Arabian or a Shetland. It is about how wild or the horse is, and about that Western world. A quiet lesson pony is not a bronco.
組成Borrowed in the 19th century from Spanish bronco, rough. In Mexican usage it also meant a horse that had not been broken and was still wild.
